Had a marvelous costume fitting this morning, and thought back to some favorite costumes over the years.
And then I thought about other aspects of life that need to be “fitted” to us. What aspect of your life might need a bit of an alteration?
Costume fittings are unique because they are the exact opposite of shopping. Shopping consists of hunting through racks of pre-existing, mass produced clothes to find something that fits you and expresses the story you are trying to tell.
Conversely, costume fittings consist of someone having constructed or discovered a piece that already tells the story you are trying to tell, and then making the OUTFIT fit YOU instead of the other way around.
What if you crafted other pieces of your life to fit you, instead of squeezing into a life or job or role or task that no longer fits or expresses the story you are trying to tell?
That’s what we do in my six month eCourse, Discern by Doing. We figure out what parts of your life fit, what parts don’t fit any more (or never did!), and then actually alter your life to fit your gifts and skills and interests. Along the way, you may end up altering yourself, too, by living more expansively.
Just because it was your calling ten years ago doesn’t mean you need to squeeze into it anymore. In fact, God may be calling you to do more.
