I’ve always lived in cold and snowy places, but today was the first I heard of a snow squall.
I grew up jumping off the roof in the winter, because it was only a foot or two drop to the snow drifts in the yard.
I went to school where the recess cutoff was fifteen BELOW ZERO.
We had outdoor ice skating as part of gym class, up until high school when we got to use the indoor hockey rink, because of course every high school had indoor hockey rinks.
We attended annual events that involved 3-story ice castles and cars driving on frozen lakes.
I thought I knew winter, and then today a #snowsquall overtook @alisonrosemunn and I.
It was another reminder that just when you think you know a subject, a sunny winter day turns quickly into a blizzard and then disappears just as quickly as it started.
What new thing have you learned lately on a subject you thought you’d mastered?
