You are courageous, resilient, and flexible.
When I was in 8th grade, my family moved to a new state, which meant starting at a new school in the middle of the year. The morning of my first day I said to my mother, “I wish I could magically start on the second day because I’d already know what’s going on.”
We’ve all made it through a first day, and I want to say bravo. We’ve made it through our first day of distance learning or our first online worship service or our first pandemic or first something. Whether or not we felt like we had a choice, we showed up, figured it out, and arrived at the second day less stressed.
Many new experiences have been thrust upon us this year. I think we’ve all learned how resilient we can be. Let’s remember our resilience when we have the choice to make a positive change in our lives. Sometimes we don’t make that change because we’re overwhelmed by that inevitably awkward first day. The mere thought of bumbling around on that first day or first date or first whatever actually keeps us from pursuing something that we feel called to do.
So keep your second day in mind to remind you how resilient, courageous, and flexible you are. It will help you step into all sorts of new experiences that can help you live a life of purpose aligned with your true calling.
