As I think of myself seventeen and eighteen years ago, I remember how hard it was to decide to leave what I had and move halfway across the country. I had a tight-knit community of friends in Minnesota, affectionately called our “Urban Tribe.” I enjoyed my youth ministry team and could have easily continued to serve at the same church, while doing musicals and choreography jobs on the side. I had frequent adventures right there in the Twin Cities and also travelled often.
And yet New York was calling me. And it has kept calling for seventeen years.
It’s confusing when you know that things are good but have a feeling that that chapter is over. That’s why I created Discern by Doing, my 6-month eCourse.
Not everyone in the course is ready to change their job or move across the country, but they all have an inkling that something needs to change.
We talk about how to hear the still small voice of God among the “noise” of our lives. We talk about how to “test out” that next calling and adjust accordingly. We also talk about focus, overcoming fears, and making a bigger impact on the world.
I made the course what I wish I’d had during that big decision seventeen years ago, and added in what I’ve learned through two master’s degrees and almost fifteen years as a professional coach.
We’re starting a new group on Monday and registration closes Friday, August 21. Check out https://bigpicturebigpurpose.com/discern-by-doing to learn more.
