“All I know about Mary is that she pondered in her heart and she wore a blue sheet!”
Thinking back to this exasperated line in one of the Church Basement Ladies musicals, “Away in the Basement.” The young girl destined to play Mary in the Christmas Pageant was frustrated that there was not more information available on her character.
Of course there’s a bit more to know about Mary, but right now I’m thinking about the pondering. She pondered in her heart.
Advent asks us to pause, to ponder, just as the world goes into high gear, despite shipping delays and a shortage of mall Santas.
I’m offering free digital devotions again this Advent and Christmas that include a lectionary verse, a keyword, and a video, filmed mostly on location around New York City.
Follow the link in my bio to sign up for reminders, or if you want to take it a step further, set aside the time to ponder with me in real time. I’m offering three one-on-one video sessions between now and the end of the year. It’s the best price it will ever be, and registration is only available this week.
What can happen in three sessions? One person defined her non-profits story, and then got a donation bigger than all donations the previous year. One person figured out a way to test her idea for a side hustle and discovered it wasn’t for her. One person decided whether her sabbatical would be about writing a book or travel.
Let’s ponder together this Advent.
