I firmly believe the world is a better place when there are more dinner parties.
I love dinner parties, and I don’t even cook. For me it’s about a number of other things.
Dinner parties are a chance to gather new combinations of people. I love to introduce my friends to one another and witness them finding deeper connections. It deepens our overall web of connections.
Dinner parties are an opportunity for a slower pace. They create space for truly engaging with one another.
Dinner parties go deep. When gathered around a meal, we can truly engage with ideas and wrestle with various points of view.
And dinner parties are at least a little bit about the food. I love creating the space, so I have others create the food. Last night we did summer salads. The time before one of my friends cooked for everyone in my kitchen.
I realized recently that I bring a dinner party feel to my eCourses. There’s always a community aspect such as a Facebook discussion group, video chats, or live meetups. For VBS for Grownups we’re even doing live singalongs of camp songs via video. (You can still sign up through Monday at noon EDT so you don’t mess that first singalong! Message me.)
What’s your favorite part about dinner parties? I’d love to incorporate more aspects of them into my real life and online communities.
